Khaleda Zia Early Life
Begum Khaleda Zia was
born August 15, 1945, in Dinajpur,His father name is Iskandar Majumder, and His mother name is Taiyaba
Majumder.
Begum Khaleda Zia Career
General Ziaur Rahma was assassinated in the military coup on May 30,
1981. K. Zia joined in the B. N. P. with a request of
some top leaders of Bangladesh Nationalist Party on January 03, 1982. After that, she elected vice-president of Bangladesh
Nationalist Party in 1983. Begum Khaleda Zia became chairperson of Bangladesh
Nationalist Party on May 10, 1984, as Justice Sattar
retired from politics on that time. Now
she is the lifetime chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. With her leadership, Bangladesh Nationalist
Party gets a new frame and won the national election more
than three times.
Begum Khaleda Zia positioned the party
with her powerful leadership quality; the party turned into a largest political
group.
Begum Khaleda Zia was elected Prime Minister after winning the
general elections of 1991, 1996 and 2001 for his party. After all, the
1996’ election was boycotted by other major parties.
She is the second Prime Minister of Bangladesh, after Sheikh Hasina since
1971 as she ruled the country more than ten years.
Personal Life
Begum Khaleda Zia got married to Ziaur Rahman on August 1960 On
that time General Zia was working in Dinajpur as a Pakistani
army officer. Ziaur Rahman was one of the great heroes in the time of
liberation war against Pakistan. She has two sons named Arafat Rahman and Tarique
Rahman Koko.
Tarique Rahman is the current
Senior Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Arafat Rahman is a
businessman and He is associated with the
Bangladesh Cricket Board and City Club He died on January 24, 2015, due to a
cardiac arrest.
